2019: The Year in Review

In looking back at this year's posts, I noticed a general theme: My family was blessed to be part of some really amazing life celebrations for various family and friends. That's a great way to spend a year, if you ask me.

January

The year started off with the first really big snowstorm of the winter. It would not be the last, in fact, Colorado saw more snow in 2019 than in the previous three winters, combined. It was crazy. Boomer Dog, however, thought it was the bomb-diggity.

February

Queen B celebrated her Golden Birthday, which, is when you turn the numerical year of the day of your birth (yeah, I had no idea that was a thing, either). Anyhoodle, February 23rd, she turned 23, so, there ya go.

In February, we also celebrated the imminent birth of Beth and Anthony's first child; more on that in April :)

March

This month was allll about Maui! We spent seven days in paradise, enjoying everything that the island had to offer. I would go back in a heartbeat.

April

I had the absolute honor of being present in the delivery room when Cooper Wayne came wailing into the world. I watched the birth not just of a baby, but of a family, and it was precious beyond words.

May

The Man-Cub came home from school, following a successful second year. He immediately went to work in Neighboring City, but, also started another season of summer baseball, which, coincided with Hugh's officiating schedule, quite nicely. Meanwhile, I spent the majority of my free time on the porch, as one does.

June

I traveled to Mayberry, where I got to celebrate the baptism of my Great Niece, with family and friends. My nephew, known on this blog as the Rebel Without a Pause, asked me to photograph the occasion, which I was honored to do.

July

Summer was in full swing, which meant time on the lake, time spent with friends (including a Girls Trip for the books!), and time spent celebrating family.

August

The highlight of the month was Darren and Johnna's wedding. Chris, Jana, and the kids are family; watching the kids grow up together has been one of the greatest privileges of my life, and, watching Darren take the next step into adulthood was simply amazing.

September

The Man-Cub officially became an adult, turning 21 on the 23rd of September. He was at school, so we didn't get to celebrate with him, but, it cannot go unmentioned.

The Cub may have the beach, but, we had the lake, and, that's where we spent Labor Day, with Chris and Jana and the kids (minus the Cub, obviously), just like in the olden days!

We ended the month by attending a wedding of one of Queen B's dearest friends. Queen B was in the wedding, and, it was a relaxing and fun weekend.

October

One word: Halloween! Of course we pulled out all the stops on the yard decorations, and, I wouldn't have it any other way.

November

Thanksgiving this year was spent at home, quietly. Queen B, Oscar, and Emily joined us.

December

This has been a month. It's had it's highs-Christmas in Mayberry with family. And, it's had it's lows-rollover on Christmas Eve, anyone?

Tomorrow, we start a brand new year. I'm praying for more time with family and friends, peace, prosperity, joy, and celebration. If I'm being honest, I haven't really loved the second decade of this century; oh, I've loved parts of it, and I certainly was graced with a multitude of blessings, but, it's also been sort of a ball-breaker, in a lot of respects.

So, I'm fully prepared for a fresh start and a new beginning in 2020. I know that I, alone, am responsible for the direction my life takes, and, at the ripe old age of 51, I fully intend to be more intentional about what direction that is, exactly.

Stay tuned, and happy New Year! Thanks for reading!
