I haven't done a good old fashioned Friday Favorites post in ages, so today seems like as good a day as any to rectify that situation.
And, speaking of old fashioned things, while we were exploring downtown Stephenville, Texas, I spied this old drug store.
Of course, it's not a drug store anymore, family-operated drug stores went the way of the Dodo Bird with the arrival of super-pharmacies like Walgreens and CVS, but; it certainly took me back to when I was a little girl and my Mom used to take me downtown to the Canon Drugs in Mayberry for a drink at their soda fountain.
See kids, back in the day, you could spin around on a red vinyl bar stool, sipping a Red River or a Brown Cow while your prescription was being filled by the nice pharmacist (who you probably knew from church, your Dad's Elks Lodge, or, who was the father of one of your classmates; because that's how it goes in small towns).
I loved the days that I got to visit the soda fountain and I can still vividly recall the taste of those Red Rivers (my favorite).
On a more modern note; Hugh and I recently purchased an air fryer and I am enjoying it more than I had thought likely. The first thing I made in it were pot stickers, which turned out pretty tasty. Tonight, I made a copycat recipe of Chick-Fil-A nuggies. They. Were. Amazing. I would say this gadget is well on its' way to becoming a favorite.
So, there we go. Favorites both old and new. Really set the bar high with this post!
