September is one of my favorite months of the year; it's the gateway to autumn, which is my favorite season. I'm not a pumpkin spice gal, but I do love the slight change in the weather, as well as the gradual shifting of color in the trees that seem to magically begin as soon as the calendar flips over from August.
Since there are so many things about the month that I love; I am going to make a concerted effort to post a Friday Favorites post every week. It shouldn't be that hard, assuming I don't get lazy. Lazy is sometimes a favorite, if I'm being honest.
Anyhoodle, this first week of the month has been fabulous. The Labor Day holiday made it a shorter week than usual at Not So New Job, and, since I had to take part of Wednesday off to drive Mom to Neighboring City for another doctor's appointment, it was even shorter than a normal holiday week.
While Mom was at her appointment, I did one of my very favorite things in the whole world; I went to Barnes and Noble to browse the books.
I hadn't ben to B&N since Queen B and I went to one in Fort Worth last December. I don't know why I let so much time pass in between visits.
I am a sucker for the classics and I love when they are re-released with new cover art. I have to refrain from buying them. But, dang, they are pretty.
I did buy another copy of
To Kill a Mockingbird, but only because I can't find my original copy. I must have loaned it to someone and not gotten it back.
I also bought a couple of historical fiction novels, which I'll mention in some post at a later date, no doubt. Probably in this month's edition of What's Up Wednesday.
I didn't buy this...
...but you know I considered it.
Mom texted to let me know that she was ready to be picked up just as I was getting in the check-out line, so that was good timing.
We did a little shopping, and, just for fun, we went to the Spirit Halloween pop-up store. Mom had never been to one before and watching her interact with the animatronic decorations is a new favorite memory. She's so stinking cute.
I always take pictures of the creepy clowns at Spirit Halloween to send to Queen B since I know how much she hates them (I'm sweet like that). This year's theme at the store was Creepy Carnival, so there was no lack of creepy clowns.
There was also a giant creepy puppet, which would definitely have been the thing of nightmares for me when I was a kid. Not a favorite.
All in all, not a bad way to kick off a favorite month!
Today, I am going to the day spa for a microdermabrasion facial. I haven't had one before, so I am hoping that it ends up being a favorite. I'll let you know.
