Friday Favorites, September #3

Today is the day of Not So New Job's biggest fundraiser of the year.

I hope.

I mean, I'm not convinced.

Ticket sales were sluggish, I've been made aware that some ticket holders have had changes of plan and won't be attending after all, and several of our most affluent community members who, usually attend, have other commitments. Expenses are also up, so we might not net the profit that we have come to expect.

It's going to be fine, though.

For one thing, there will be wine! Always a favorite.

And, the barn cats will be on hand to snuggle with those guests whom they deem worthy (we had guests fighting over the cats' attention last year; true story).

And, most importantly, we already have the venue set and ready for decorating. In past years, we were hustling to get that done on the day of the event; this year, we had it accomplished on Wednesday, giving us some well deserved breathing room today.

The space will look a lot different by about 2:00 this afternoon, when we have all of the tables decorated and the silent auction items displayed. Speaking of the silent auction; we have over fifty items and I have my eye on several of them. With fewer people at the event, I might actually have a chance.

It's going to be great, I'm sure. That doesn't change the fact that my favorite thing for today's Friday Favorites, will be seeing the clock strike 10:00 pm.

I'm ready for a break.
