Yesterday, Mom finally had the surgery to install the spine stimulator that will, hopefully, eliminate some of the pain that she has been experiencing for years. The road to the surgery was long, with a number of pitstops along the way, including the cancelation of the procedure last week, when her insurance failed to approve the surgery on time. Because insurance companies know better than doctors.
Don't even get me started.
Thankfully, all went well yesterday, and today; she is in full recovery mode.
I spent the night with her last night and, in a lot of ways, it felt like old times, when I would drive to Mayberry to spend time in my childhood home. Her home in Hooterville feels just as warm and comforting as the old house did and I truly enjoyed getting to have a sleepover with her.
This morning, we woke up to the first snowfall of the season and to the news that Donald Trump won the election.
In a perfect world, a new administration would fix the broken healthcare system in this country, but I won't be holding my breath. Mostly because I wouldn't be able to afford the emergency room bill if I were to fall and hit my head due to lack of oxygen.
Anyhoodle, I'm going to spend the morning visiting with Mom and enjoying the comfort of her home before I head into work for a few hours.
Assuming I don't get too comfortable on her couch, which, to be honest, I could totally see happening.
