...it's time to start thinking about Christmas.
Mom and I were doing just that this past Saturday morning; when we made the short drive to a neighboring town to attend the second White Barn Sale of the year.
You may recall the first White Barn Sale, back on Mother's Day weekend; this was our introduction to both the barn; and some of the lovely vendors who come together to put on the best sale this side of Pickin' at the Pea.
I was eager to attend this particular sale because one of my friends from Hooterville was setting up a booth, and selling outside her antique store for the first time. I wanted to support her, and I knew she would have a killer collection of vintage Christmas items; because that's how she rolls. Also, she had mentioned on social media that she would be bringing her homemade fudge to the sale, and I've heard some amazing things about that fudge over the years.
It was a perfect day for the drive to the sale. The trees were still dressed in fall foliage and the early morning sunlight set their colors ablaze.
The barn sits atop a hill, overlooking the valley below and I can't imagine how nice it would be to wake up to that view every morning.
Of course, the views inside the barn could not be beaten; they started out strong with wreaths made from vintage Shiny Brite ornaments. I already have one of these wreaths, and immediately knew that it was from my friend's shop. Since her booth was the first place I wanted to stop, this was a good omen.
I'll share the item I was on the hunt for a little later in the post; in the meantime, just look at some of the cute vintage items that she had on display!
We all know I am a sucker for vintage blow molds; this sale was well stocked but there were none that I felt the need to add to my collection (Hugh would have been shocked).
Mom wasn't really looking for anything in particular; but left with some vintage porcelain reindeer and a stained glass Christmas tree that lights up. I'll have to get her to take a picture of it that I can share in Friday's Favorites.
Once we had made our purchases, and sampled some of my friend's fudge (best fudge, ever! True story), we made our way home. I wanted to get all of my Halloween decorations packed away so that I could make room for Christmas decor, including the one item I was determined to snag at the sale...
Hugh thinks he's incredibly...creepy.
I don't care; I am in love. From the moment I spied him in a picture my friend had posted on Facebook before the sale; I knew he needed to come home with me.
Can you see him waaaay down in the left corner of the picture?
I was so determined to get him that I abandoned Mom on the first floor of the barn, and I raced up the stairs to grab him before anyone else did. I should be ashamed of myself, but I am not.
I'm also not ashamed to admit that I spent more of my hard-earned money on vintage Christmas tree ornaments. Do I already own a plethora of vintage ornaments? Yes, yes, I do.
I am, however, unapologetic and ready to deck the halls for Christmas.
Tis the season.
