Won't You Be My Valentine?

As is often the case this time of year; Hugh was out of town for the Hallmark holiday. Since he was in Denver, officiating the State wrestling tournament, I celebrated with Mom. We showed our age by hitting a favorite Italian restaurant during the early bird hour, which let us avoid the crowds. I joke about becoming a senior citizen, but the AARP discounts can't be beat, according to Mom. I should probably look into a membership...and I digress.

Anyhoodle, dinner was delicious; I had the Caprese salad, which was light and refreshing (heartburn following heavy meals appears to be a big part of this old age thing, which I find quite annoying). Mom had a large mushroom calzone (so, the heartburn is either a passing phase or you simply toughen up as you age; I'll keep you updated), because it was Ash Wednesday and she was abstaining from meat.

As an aside, how cute is she?

In addition to dinner, I treated myself to a massage and facial at the day spa in Hooterville...

...and Hugh gave me roses before he hit the road for Denver.

All in all, it was a nice way to spend a commercialized holiday. No complaints.
