Friday Favorites, October #2

I have a really eclectic list of favorites for this week's installment of Friday Favorites; none of them really relate to one another, but they've all made me smile.

First up is this view from my usual seat in the living room...

...I got all of my indoor Halloween decorations out back in September and I love seeing them. I still need to get the front porch done, but the weather has been so unusually warm, I just haven't quite gotten around to it, yet.

The weather might not feel authentically autumn-ish just yet, but that hasn't stopped me from busting out the fall nail polish colors. I'm currently wearing this warm brown color on my toes and it fits the bill.

As Boomer started to decline, I was feeling pretty emotional. Somehow, the internet pixies knew that, and; a number of pet-related ads began to fill my social media feeds, one of which was from Cuddle Clones.

Did I need a small-scale replica of my beloved?

Hell, yes, I did.

Is that the grief talking?

Hell, yes, it is.

But, someday, my grandkids will cuddle with this stuffy and I will tell them all about the awesome dog who inspired his creation (don't judge me; I'm in mourning).

In an effort to stay busy, I purchased almost 100 tulip bulbs, which I have started planting in the flower bed in our front yard. Tulips are Queen B's favorite flower and I'll think of her when I see them blooming next spring.

I've been using this bulb planter to make the job go a little faster and it has become a favorite garden tool. If you have scores of bulbs to plant while fending off grief, I can highly recommend it.

Lastly, the President of my Board of Directors, one of my Barn Dance committee members, and I have been sampling various BBQ caterers for next year's event (yes, already). We were not exactly thrilled when, this year, the caterer-who has handled the event since its' inception-showed up almost two hours late, lacking remorse (and an adequate amount of green beans), so; we are on the hunt for his replacement.

The caterer we sampled today is our favorite, so far; I'm thinking he will get the job, assuming the price is right.

And that wraps up today's post. I'm off for the long holiday weekend and am looking forward to putzing around the house (downtime is also a favorite); I hope you get the chance to do the same.
