We've come to the most important part of the wedding; the ceremony. I'm going to share screenshots from the video that Hugh took; they aren't the greatest, but will do until we get the official portraits from the photographer (yes, that will undoubtably be a whole other post! It's neverending for you folks and I apologize for holding you captive).
Queen B and Shanti's brother have become fast friends since the kids got engaged and were really excited about getting paired to go down the aisle (more accurately, they were excited to be paired for the bridal party entrance at the reception; they started rehearsing their entrance "performance" at the joint bachelor/bachelorette party in July). They looked so happy and it was so cute that Kristi and Erin immediately started campaigning for them to date. That's a hard no from both of them, by the way.
The Man-Cub's groomsmen included Second Son Mikey as his best man, Kenzie, Shanti's brother, and another friend, who the Cub has made since returning from Hawaii. They looked quite handsome and all of their attire fit! This was a tremendous concern for me leading up to the wedding as I was the one who took the measurements (the business we rented the suits from is not open on the weekends and they close promptly at 5:00 M-F; all of the guys work past 5:00 and were not able to make it into the shop).
Shanti looked absolutely beautiful and I cannot wait to see the pictures the photographer got of the Cub when he saw her for the first time as she and her dad made their way down the aisle.
The ceremony itself was just about the sweetest one I have ever attended, and I'm not just saying that because it was my son's. The kids' vows to one another were so perfect and so personal; there was not a dry eye in the house once they had finished exchanging them. My favorite part was in the Cub's vows, when he vowed to "always be the man that she fell in love with 1660 days ago". As an aside, we hosted the newlyweds, fresh from their honeymoon in St. Lucia, at dinner last night and they told us that they had opened the cards from friends and family in their hotel room the night of the wedding. The exact amount of cash from those cards amounted to...$1660.00.
Chills.
I haven't posted any pictures to our social media accounts, save this one:
I was waiting for the kids to post first, but wanted to thank our friends and family for attending, and that picture so accurately captured the joy of the day.
Next on the agenda: the reception!
What a lovely ceremony!
