Weekend Wrap-up

I think I have carpel tunnel in my left wrist; it hurts like a bitch and it's making it difficult to do the things I need to do. I mostly pushed through the discomfort to get things accomplished this weekend, but the pain was a constant reminder that I don't bounce back as well from shit in my old age.

After this wedding, I am really going to have to buckle down and work on some serious selfcare.

But! Enough bitching! Let's get to the wrap-up of what was, despite the challenges, a very productive weekend.

Friday: I got to sleep in for a bit before starting my day, which is always a good way to begin. Then, I spent a bit of time in the garden, checking on the progress of the flowers and plucking a handful of yellow pear tomatoes from one of the two tomato plants that I planted in addition to all the flowers. Boomer is a huge fan of bite-sized tomatoes and I didn't want him to live through a summer without them, especially as this will most likely be his last summer with us (trying not to think about that right now).

By noon, I was at one of the local golf courses, setting up a tent for Not So New Job. One of the banks in Hooterville was hosting the tournament as their customer appreciation event, and we had been chosen to benefit from donations made at two game holes. My Board President and I manned a advantage hole, where a donation to Not So New Job earned the golfer a chance to tee off from the Junior tee box. It was a gorgeous day, and not a bad way to enjoy a work day.

While we were chatting up the golf teams, Hugh and the Man-Cub were on the course with one of my team members and one of my staffers; we had been offered a team spot for the tournament and they were all eager to play. I think they had a good time doing it, even if Hugh did spend a good deal of time in the sand trap.

Saturday:

I got to sleep in again, before spending the majority of the day working on wedding favors, including the cutest seed paper hearts (you plant the heart and wildflowers grow!) and handkerchiefs for happy tears 😊

Then, I spent several hours cleaning the front porch and getting it ready to host family and friends over the next week.

Meanwhile, Hugh was finishing the farm table (!!!).

Sunday:

Booomer Dog and I spent the morning in the garden, where he got a few more tomatoes and we saw a Praying Mantis, dining on tiny pests. There were also a ton of bees buzzing about, as well as a couple of hummingbirds that are so used to me at this point that they hover right in front of my face as they feed from the zinnias. I'm living my best Snow White life over here.

It was pretty warm already by 10:00, so Hugh gave Boomer a cold shower. This boy loves running through the sprinklers and being sprayed, which is ironic when you consider his absolute disdain of swimming.

I spent the rest of the day working on books at the hardware store and getting the house in shape for company, neither of which lends themselves to good pictures for the blog.

Today, I am picking Queen B up at the airport and then starting on what will be a whirlwind week of wedding festivities! Try saying that ten times, fast!

And I'm off!
