I am easily the worst hairdresser to ever wield a comb; it's a fact and I have accepted it. So, I had no idea what I was going to do with my hair for the wedding. Jules came to my rescue, and, armed with a rattail comb, a can of hairspray, a slew of bobby pins, and a YouTube video, she whipped up a messy bun that looked amazing.
While she was wrangling my tresses into shape, Reese was acting as her second set of eyes. Meanwhile, Tee was in my kitchen, doing the dishes in the sink and putting together a snack plate for me to eat while I was being beautified. Phoebe was holding court on the porch with Hugh and Tee's new husband, keeping them entertained and out from under foot.
I truly don't know what I would do without my friends.
Once I was tressed and dressed, I drove to Shanti's parents' home, where the girls were ensconced in the "getting ready" room. Earlier in the week, Shanti's mom had removed the majority of the furniture from the room and had restyled it with pieces borrowed from her friend who had provided the other pieces for the wedding and reception. I especially fell in love with this vanity, which she had styled using some of her milk glass finds as well as the bouquet of hydrangeas from the rehearsal dinner the night before (have I mentioned that I ordered the hydrangeas from Sam's Club? If you've ever wondered about the quality of Sam's Club florals, let me be the first to ensure you that it is stellar).
Shanti's brother's husband had set up a cute snack table for the girls to nibble from while they got dressed, and, earlier in the day, Shanti's coworkers had sent over a coffee order for all of us; the messages on the cups were such a sweet touch.
As the Mother-of-the Groom, I wouldn't have expected to be included while Shanti was getting ready, but she and her mom invited me to be involved, which meant so much to me. I tried to stay out of the photographer's way, but couldn't resist getting a few shots with my phone (as an aside, it was really, really weird to be at a wedding and not be behind the camera).
Once Shanti was ready to do a private first look with her dad, I headed out to the yard to check in on the Man-Cub. He and the groomsmen had gotten ready at Shanti's brother's place, with a photographer of their own.
He looked so handsome!
His dad cleaned up pretty nicely, too.
Queen B and I grabbed a quick selfie and then it was time to join the line-up for the processional.
Tune in tomorrow for the ceremony (I told you I was going to milk this for all that it's worth!).
You have some wonderful friends and those hydrangeas are gorgeous!
