A Hairy Situation

Katie and The Teenager drove through the night last night to get to California for their delayed Spring Break vacation. They made the trip with two male friends from high school and are going to be staying with another high school friend during their stay.

The Teenager texted us throughout the night, to let us know their location and that they were safe. They arrived at their final destination at 4:30 this morning. I hope they have a great time and that they remain safe, and I hope, someday, to be able to not worry so much about them when they are out of my sight.

I'm not holding my breath on that second thing.

Anyway, before they left, The Teenager went to the hair salon for a coloring. Both she and Katie were in the mood for a change, and they both took dramatic measures. Here are their before pictures...

...and here are their after pictures...

Katie got her hair cut a couple of weeks back; she donated a good ten inches to Locks of Love and I'm guessing her head feels about ten pounds lighter.

The Teenager wanted to get her hair colored at the same time, but, she needed to save up some cash first. She chose to lighten her hair in the ombre technique and I think it turned out pretty cute.

The girls hit the road right after I snapped these pictures and then it was my turn in the stylist's chair. I got my usual root touch-up with some additional highlights. My stylist called them "summer highlights", which translated to hair that is almost white-blond in certain areas. It is going to take a little getting used to, but, I think I like it.

The gray will definitely be less noticeable, which, is a good thing since I am certain to turn even more gray as I wait for the safe return of my girls.
