Are y'all ready for me to wax nostalgic about yet another last? No? Well, then, today is not your day.
Last night, the boys played in their final home game of the season, and, as in keeping with tradition, the Seniors and their parents were honored. I don't know if I've mentioned it, but, Hugh is out of town, officiating at the State wrestling tournament, so, he missed the game and his opportunity to stand proudly in front of a packed gymnasium with his son. I'm sure he was sad, despite his indifference to the sport (or, outright hatred of, depending on whom you ask), so we made sure to televise the moment on Facebook Live.
I'm sure the Cub was also sad about his dad missing it, so, I brought along a little something to help...
I think it worked.
After the game, the boys took turns taking down their Senior banners, and, I may have gotten a little misty when the Cub dropped to one knee, bent his head, and offered his to me in the manner that a knight would offer a gift to a queen.
I love that kid.
Anyway, we are down another milestone. The end of the school year is rapidly approaching, which means that these milestones are going to start coming in quicker succession. I'm honestly not sure my heart can take it.
