And all through the house, every creature was stirring...cocktails, mostly, as reported in my previous post.
We also visited the local botanic gardens for their Garden of Lights event. The event had been canceled the past few years, so it was exciting to see it back again.
Mom, the Man-Cub, Shanti, Queen B, Miss Mia, and her family, and I braved the chilly temperatures to tour the gardens. We ended at the hot cocoa hut, where we warmed up with a quick drink.
Then, we departed the garden for dinner at a new pasta restaurant in Hooterville. Shanti and I had been excited to try the place, as we both love our pasta. Unfortunately, our experience was not a good one; the food was just so-so, the portions were small, and the price tag was high. Plus, the service was slow, and we had to listen to karaoke at a volume that was most unpleasant. In short, we won't be back.
On the bright side, on Sunday evening, Mom, the Man-Cub, Shanti, and I decorated the cut sugar cookies that I had baked the previous weekend. I'm happy to say that the batch of frosting that I made for the cookies was probably the best batch that I have ever made; I subbed in butter for the shortening that I usually use, and it made a world of difference.
The cookies are now awaiting their debut on the cookie tray that Mom and I will put together for Christmas day.
All in all, it was a pretty productive last weekend before the Big Day.
