That's right, Mother Nature finally got with the program, giving us a beautiful, sunny, mildly breezy, picture perfect evening for the first Porch Night of what I am hoping is a long and eventful season. And, by "us", I mean, myself, Queen B, four-out-of-five of the Basketball Moms, including BCPE (Booster Club President Extraordinaire), whom I haven't seen in far too long, Jana Bobanna, her future daughter-in-law (hereafter known as "The Bride", at least until August 11th, which, is the day after the wedding), Darren's future mother-in-law, The Bride's best friend and Maid of Honor, three of my co-workers at Day Job, an old friend from the book club I was in about a million years ago (and, whom I will be joining in a new book club; hold on to your seats, folks, the band is about to get back together!), Bethany, and, the most popular guest of the evening...Baby Cooper!
Queen B was duly smitten
Ok, EVERYONE was duly smitten
We started the party at six and the last three guests departed shortly after ten. Two pitchers of Sangria were consumed, along with five different varieties of cheese, a selection of cured meats, spinach and artichoke dip that was to die for, several baguettes, a few bunches of grapes, olives, almonds, pickles, and a veggie tray, just so we could claim one small degree of healthiness.
The conversations were lively, lots and lots of laughs were shared, and, we all agreed that we won't wait long for the next opportunity to get together. I love these friends of mine.
Speaking of friends I love; we finally have a solid plan for this year's Girls Weekend! We are going camping! That's right; I said camping. But, like, don't panic; we won't be sleeping under the stars or peeing in nature (well, not on purpose) or any such shit; we'll be in an actual camper. A camper that Tee bought while high on prescription painkillers. Or, so she says; knowing Tee, she saw a fantastic opportunity to get a bargain and couldn't pass it up. She's smart like that.
Although, in the interest of full disclosure, she did break her leg and she was on pain killers.
And, crutches, which, she will still be on when we hit the road. What could possibly go wrong? Tune in July 11th!
On a somewhat related topic (I'm as shocked as you are), Downtown Hooterville is hosting an Airstream convention this weekend, and, I had a chance to meet several owners while they were setting up on the street in front of Day Job. What nice people! And, what cool campers! Several were decorated in retro themes, and, it was like stepping back in time when you entered them.
If we didn't already own Jenny, the motorhome (pronounced Jenn-ayyy, in your best impersonation of Forest Gump, please), I would totally convince Hugh that we need an Airstream, and, I would call her Lucy.
Wouldn't that be fabulous?
You know what else is fabulous? My latest FabFitFun subscription box! Not only was the box pretty, it was chock-full of products that I will actually use, including a set of ceramic bowls, a beach towel in the shape of a mandala, and makeup setting spray that will come in handy when the summer sun threatens to melt my makeup right off my face.
In addition to the regular items in the box, I also received an add-on that I purchased separately; these wine glass markers that I can use on Porch Night, to help everyone identify their individual wine glasses.
My annual subscription will be up for renewal in the fall, and, I'm pretty sure that I will re-subscribe.
One last favorite; these awesome pedicure sandals that I bought on a whim at Marshalls a few weeks ago...
I wore them today, when , I got a pedicure, using OPI's Alpine Snow. I've owned the shade for what feels like forever, but, I think this may be the first time I have ever used it on my feet; it won't be the last.
And, that's about it for this week's favorites; it goes without saying that Friday is a favorite, or, that I am looking forward to a nice, relaxing weekend. I mean, everyone knows that, right?
Right.
