Ode to the Demise of Summer

I left the house for work this morning at 7:15 and walked back in this evening at 7:00; and this was my short day for the week.

Needless to say, it took a great deal of restraint for me not to wag my finger in Guinness's face while saying "Now do you see why mommy needs her weekend sleep?"

Speaking of the weekend, I did mange to enjoy it despite the early morning wakeup calls.

Friday evening, Hugh, the Man-Cub, and I joined Chris, Jana, and Darren for dinner at a new Mexican restaurant in Hooterville, after which we went to the movies to see the new Family Vacation movie (hilarious, by the way). While we were waiting for the opening credits to roll, we planned a weekend RV trip for two weeks from now; it will be our last opportunity to boat before the kids all head back to school.

Saturday, The Teenager and I went to a local pottery painting studio and I started a new piece while she worked on a bowl that she started a while back. We are hoping to schedule a couple more days at the studio to finish up, again, because it will be our last opportunities before school starts.

Sunday, the Man-Cub left to spend the day hanging out with Darren, and, he has been there ever since; he claims that they are making up for the time that they won't get to see each other once, say it with me, school starts.

(I am not looking forward to the start of school, in case you missed it)
