Building a Portfolio

Last night, I photographed a bridal shower, which, is the first of several events associated with the wedding that I will be photographing in Las Vegas next weekend.

The bride is the daughter of a very sweet friend of mine, and I feel very honored to have been asked to do the job. I'm planning to use the photos in my professional portfolio and, hopefully, they will be good enough to attract some business: Mama's got that Hawaiian vacation to save for, after all.

The bride and her mother have requested candid photos that capture the individual personalities of each member of the wedding party, as well as those of the family members, and, I don't think I have to tell you that that kind of photography is right up my alley; I prefer to catch moments on the fly rather than to do posed pictures (although, I am totally capable of posing people).

In fact, in tossing around ideas for the name of my hobby business, I landed on Serendipity Photo Designs, mostly because serendipity is my favorite word in the English language, but, also because the definition, a happy accident, speaks to my style as a photographer.

So, there you have it.

I can hardly wait for the wedding and for the reception the family is hosting back in Hooterville later in the summer.
