I spent the better part of the day shopping for, and preparing, food for the three-day weekend that we are planning to spend at the lake. I then spent the rest of the day playing an elaborate game of Tetris with the food containers in an effort to fit them all into the tiny refrigerator in the motorhome; I won!
I managed to fit in large containers of baked beans, pasta salad, macaroni salad, and fresh cherries, along with a gallon sized bag of Malibu wraps, a large package of bacon, two economy sized packages of lunch meat, three packages of sliced deli cheese, a carton of grapes, bags of sugar snap peas and baby carrots, a hunk of brie, jars of fig jam and salsa, a container of dip, a package of elk steaks, a bag of chicken breast marinating in lime juice and tequila, two different flavors of cream cheese, a package of lettuce, a bag of cheese curds, a bag of cheese cubes, a container of pre-threaded vegetable kabobs, mustard, mayo, pickles, two bottles of orange juice, two bottles of champagne, a large bottle of Pinot Grigio, several mini bottles of Moscato, and a six pack of bottled water.
See? I totally win.
Our plan is to head out first thing tomorrow morning, meeting Jana and Co. in Pixler, where we will gas up the motorhomes and grab ice. Then, we will head for the lake, stopping in the town closest to it for our annual haul of breakfast burritos. Once we reach the lake, we will off-load the boats and park the motorhomes until 12:00, when we are able to check in to our campsites. Then, weather permitting, it will be three days of sunshine, water, laughter, and good friends.
Oh, and, food.
But I think I covered that part already.
