I'm talking about afternoon parties that featured tiny sandwiches, scones with fresh cream and tea, served in actual teapots. Parties attended by little girls in sweet dresses (although The Teenager- whom you will remember as The Girl, if you were reading back then- was always a bit of a tomboy, so, dresses were optional) and feather boas.
Back in the day, Jana and I threw some pretty awesome tea parties. Our guests list was pretty short: The Girl and Kaley and their My Twin dolls, Taylor and Macy, but, that just meant that there was more than enough food to go around (I did mention the scones with fresh cream, right?).
I haven't been to a tea party in ages, but, if Jana wants to get together for a spot of tea around this time next year-when Kaley is away at college and Jana is feeling lonely and melancholy-I'm totally her girl. Actually, Taylor still lives in The Teenager's closet and I'm relatively certain that Macy is still in residence somewhere in Kaley's room, so, we could round out the guest list, nicely.
Because two grown women having a tea party with dolls wouldn't be creepy at all.
