Friday Favorites: The Christmas Edition

The past week was a blur of celebration and sickness, but, for purposes of this post, I'll focus on the celebration, because, let's face it: sickness is not a favorite.

It was wonderful to have Queen B and Mom here with us for Christmas; having the people I love all together under my roof is always a favorite.

Learning that the Man-Cub had been accepted to both of his colleges of choice was a favorite; receiving notice that Hawaii Pacific University was also offering the Cub a $10,000 renewable academic scholarship was the icing on the cake, although, it complicates his decision about deferring for a year while he completes his basic courses in-state. That gives us a lot to think about in the new year.

Having some down time from Day Job was a pleasure and a blessing; when you work with the population that I work with, emotional and mental fatigue are a real job hazard and taking time away is vital. I really should do it more often. Besides, the time off gave me ample opportunity to spend lazy mornings in my pjs and new slippers, which, have rapidly become my go-to footwear for when I am at home.

I'm not the only one who has taken advantage of the opportunity to lounge about in pjs all day, either; they've basically become the uniform of the household.

Speaking of uniforms, the dogs even got into the holiday spirit, with ugly Christmas sweaters that, I'm sure they just love. Or, were at least excited enough about the prospect of getting new bones to act excited about them, anyway. There is a lot to be said for rewards.

Of course, we were all suitably spoiled with material items and whatnot, but, as I learn more and more with each passing year; it's not what's under the tree, it's who you get to hand the gift to that counts.

I've been very blessed in that regard. And, now we look forward to our New Years celebration and to welcoming friends and family into the house for good food, games, laughter, and memory-making, and, I can't think of anything more awesome than that.
