It Really Is a Small, Small World

At the reunion this past weekend, one of my classmates, who lives in the Denver area, approached me to talk about the Man-Cub's plan to attend HPU.

She told me that she has a friend whose daughter will also be attending the college. She went on to say that, during a recent conversation with the friend, she mentioned that she had a classmate whose son would be attending, and, they compared notes on my last name. Low and behold, the mother remembered hearing it at the welcome reception that HPU hosted in Denver back April; she remembered it because she works for a doctor with the same name, and, since it isn't that common, she noted the coincidence.

What a small world, right?

So, I quizzed her about the friend's daughter, and, it turns out that she is one of the "hot" girls that the Cub was quick to text Mikey about, but, too shy to introduce himself to until the last possible second, when there was no chance of getting to know each other.

Now, the Cub has a second chance! I asked my classmate to see if the girl would be interested in sharing contact information with the Cub before school starts so that they can both feel like they "know" someone else. I'm waiting to hear back from her, but, fingers crossed.

If, five years from now, they are best friends, or engaged to be married or something, they are going to have the best story to tell their kids.

Not that I'm in any hurry for grandkids. I'm just sayin'.
