Shake Your (Shoe) Bootie

I spent the day, today, in the company of some women from work. We enjoyed a fundraising event that featured a self-guided driving tour of seven homes in Hooterville. At each home, we were fed appetizers created from local produce, meats, and cheese products by local chefs who then shared their recipes with us on cute little index cards.

This event was perfect for me since three of my favorite things are good food, spending time with fun women, and peeking into other people's kitchens. It was the Trifecta, which, was only made better by the addition of a wine tasting at the last stop on the tour.

Highly, highly recommended.

This Victorian was my absolute favorite on the tour. It had been remodeled from top to bottom with special attention paid to the period details, including a pressed tin ceiling in the kitchen that was to die for. In my next life, I want this house.

My second favorite house was an updated farmhouse that sits on several acres featuring wine grapes, fruit orchards and herb gardens. The hostess at the house had decorated three tables in the various gardens and each table was more beautiful than the last.

The most interesting house on the tour was located in a metal building and its main features included a basketball court and a climbing wall in the house. Outside, there was an almost-regulation sized softball field, a sand volleyball court and his and hers outdoor restrooms done in a tropical theme. It was a lot of fun but there is no way in hell I could ever live there, for one thing, the children would simply never move away.

These are the wicked-cute and fashionable booties that we had to wear in each house. Normally blue is not my color, but, I made an exception for these ladies...

...and, I would do it again in a heartbeat.

What a fun day.
