I woke up this morning with a raging headache; I wasn't sure if it was a migraine because it had started during the night, so I was hesitant to take my meds. Plus, at the point that the headache was at, even if it was a migraine, it would have been too late to treat it. So, I texted my boss to let her know that I wouldn't be in and I went back to sleep.
When I woke up again, it was past nine o'clock and the headache had subsided to a dull roar, so, definitely (most likely) not a migraine. At that point, I probably could have gone in to the office, but my boss had urged me to stay home and take care of myself, so that is exactly what I did.
I drank coffee on the couch. I surfed the internet. I gave myself a facial, and I slept for another hour or so. Then, since it was raining outside, I made a big pot of homemade chicken noodle soup and a couple of pot pies (one for tonight, one for the freezer).
It was a good day to mentally and physically recharge my batteries and I'm glad that I have an employer that gives us four personal mental health days a year to use as we feel necessary. That's a pretty important perk, especially given the nature of our work.
Of course, I may have a tough time falling asleep tonight, given all the resting I did today, but that is a problem that I can't really complain about, since I'm all mentally relaxed and everything. In fact, I'm going to have a hard time complaining about anything for the foreseeable future...
My employers may actually be the biggest winners, here.
Huh, genius.
